I decided to use my 'My'Space profile for a networking site for my YouTube videos along with info like my Xbox Live Gamercard, Wii and DS Friend Codes, and just a place to communicate with my friends. I was going to use Freewebs to help promote my videos but then it hit me, if you give someone two links, one linking to a Freeweb and one linking to a MySpace, which are they going to click? A boring website a novice made or your own personal profile with your pictures, background details, etc.?
TEST: Let's play a game. You're given the option to only click ONE of the following links. Once you choose one link, the other link will disappear.
My MySpace Profile
Freewebs
If you're a smart_ss, you probably clicked the Freeweb link to prove me wrong but I've been observing forums and YouTube videos. As long as a thread or video has the word "MySpace" in it, it will get the more hits than something like "Vlog #1" or "I stubbed my toe!". You know it's true. MySpace will be my Friends/Networking site since it's more popular than Freewebs.
If you also have a MySpace account, feel free to send me a friend invite, but you must pass the following requirements:
1.) You can't be a stalker.
2.) I must know you, rl or not.
YouTube:
Occasionally, I'm going to link YouTube videos or channels that I think are worthwhile/funny. I'll also talk about my videos, future videos, etc.
Dreaming of You[Tube] by thewinekone.
I subscribed to thewinekone after watching his Internet Creepo video. I'm really into parody videos and videos that make fun of other users but don't harm them in any way. It's kinda like some parts in Conker's Bad Furday. They're making fun of some movies.. but they aren't really insulting them. Anyway, this video "Dreaming of You[Tube]" made me a proud subscriber of thewinekone. It makes fun of "haters", Viacom, smosh, and (another comedic genius, in my opinion) LisaNova. Watch now!
CrappyCaptureDevice – Super Smash Bros. Melee History
I found this channel after viewing Villanjo's subscriptions. Basically what this channel discusses are the characters/stages history, like what game did they adapt from. Some I had no idea about like one of Kirby's blocks is from a puzzle game only released in Japan and many others. Check it out!
soundboardprankcalls – Well… the name says it: Soundboard Prank Calls
I found this channel when viewing, my friend, Turkeymatron9000's (or Rooster542 on GameSpot) subscriptions. So far I only watched one video with Dr. Phil prank calls Capital One. I'm going to watch a few more videos and if they make me laugh then I'll subscribe. If they don't post a video for six months then I don't see a point in subscribing to them anymore if they're through with their channel.
BanjoPaste – Banjo-Kazooie Guitar Remixes and Donkey Kong Country videos
I know talent when I see talent. I use Banjo-Paste's Jolly Roger Lagoon guitar remix for my Banjo-Kazooie intro video and I used the beginning of his Banjo-Kazooie Jam Pack for my video "Banjo-Kazooie: Rated E?". If you're into Rareware and guitar, check this channel out.
Also, there's something I want to bring up. What do my core subscribers at YouTube want to watch? I was browsing the Most Discussed section of YouTube a few days ago and I came across this video. Renetto talks about how YouTube "rewards you" for being an idiot. And how the people who share other videos to their friends like "dude watch this video, this guy's an idiot" bla bla bla. But when you do that, you're basically rewarding me.
For example, I'm going to completely make up a conversation of two Banjo-Kazooie fans in MSN Messennger.
IcyIceIceMike says:
Dude watch this video, it's so F[annoying msn emotion here]king stupid!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpPnK2Bl0Pk
Fire Mario says:
Wow, you're right. Teh pots say thank you!
IcyIceIceMike says:
I knoe and happy hour is half off in bars.
Fire Mario says:
Wow, he's an idiot, I'm going to comment like 3 times.
IcyIceIceMike says:
lol, I commented 8 times already.
Fire Mario says:
lol
IcyIceIceMike says:
Hey we should post this video at the WareRitch forums.
Fire Mario says:
Yeah! Now more people will view this stupid video!
Ok, all of this was made up… what my point is, if you tell your friends, comment, post it at forums, it's going to get more views, rating, and discussion and this tells people like me "Is this what Banjo-Kazooie fans really want to watch?" I'm very proud of the video though. It gets about 100 views daily, it's my most discussed video (plus 200 comments) and is on Page 1 when you search for "Banjo-Kazooie" at YouTube. But is this what my core audience wants to watch or are they just getting views because of some nubs post it on IM programs and forums?
My RareWare Tribute video, my most meaningful video…not even 3,000 views and it was posted in Janurary. Don't get me wrong, that's a lot of views. I got comments, messages, and Xbox Live messages saying how great it was to kick off the new year and how very deep and breath-taking it was…yet it's my least viewed RareWare related video.
So, if you're part of my core audience, please tell me straight out: What video made you subscribe? What do you want to see more of me in the future? Right now, I'm just making and uploading whatever the hell I feel like uploading.. but it's confusing. If I post a video and get -1 subscriber (ie. Chrono Trigger playthroughs) then I know something is wrong. I want to do what I love doing but I also want to entertain you guys.
So please leave a comment, what do you expect from "ThumbsUpMaster" in the future?
PS: I also find it funny that some people do bash Rated E? because these "sexual innuendo/subliminal messages" videos aren't…well… "subliminal" to begin with. Remember, this was a joke topic at GameFAQs. No one took it seriously. I took the risk and made it seem serious to add some kind of humorous tone to it but I guess people actually did take them serious.. way to serious. I bet there is still some of you that actually think there are "subliminal messages" in Banjo-Kazooie. I mean.. what it obvious enough that "subliminal messages" and "innuendo" were "quoted" in my previous blogs? I laugh at all the wannabes at YouTube mimicking me with there own "subliminal message" video when there really isn't anything there…. HI-LAR-I-OUS. Jolly being gay could be true but it's just an innocent joke… ;). ESRA is 100% real.. those brits can't fool us with their word altering…
Video Games:
I recently got the Perfect Gunner and Hella Copter achievements in Dead Rising which now makes me at 58%. My friend Supermooper and I completed Gears' campaign on Insane. RAAM was f[annoying msn emotion here]king hard. Jesus christ… good god I don't have to deal with that anymore… I just realized I uses God's name in vian twice in my previous sentence. Oh my god! NOOOO! There I go again! God help me!
